Join the Accessible Yoga Movement!

Accessible Yoga is an international advocacy organization focusing on sharing yoga with all.
We offer Accessible Yoga Conferences, Journal, and the Accessible Yoga Network.

The Accessible Yoga Training focuses on how to make the Yoga teachings available to everyone,
regardless of their level of physical ability. We'll focus on creating Integrated Accessible Yoga classes
where all students can practice together. We’ll explore the many ways that Yoga practice can be modified
to suit students with disabilities, physical challenges, as well as seniors.
We'll consider how to make our classes welcoming to everyone, and to approach students in atrauma-informed way.
You'll learn sample Accessible Yoga classes, chair yoga classes, and even bed yoga classes.
We'll also look at ways of bringing the yoga teachings and meditation into your classes,
and how all of yoga can be used to support health and healing for every body.

We'll also review common medical conditions so that you have a basic understanding of these issues.

Graduates of the program become Accessible Yoga Ambassadors and connect with a network
of Accessible Yoga teachers and students around the world.
Participants who have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training will receive 21 Yoga Alliance contact CE hours
and the option of an additional 9 non-contact hours.

This course is worth 21 Yoga Alliance Contact Continuing Education Hours. The 9 additional hours consists of readings and videos. It is recommended that you complete the work before attending the training.
More information will be provided upon registration.

If you are not a yoga teacher but interested in those topics you are also very welcome to join this training!

TESTIMONIALS

I cannot begin to thank you enough for the training. Although I was quite mindful and attentive in my chair practice,
I have been able to implement more philosophy in a way that is tangible and receptive.
I am having such a tremendous response, some of my regular class attendees are
taking my chair class because I focus more on breath work and meditation! It's so exciting.
And it's also changed my personal practice tremendously!

Samantha Burton

The Accessible Yoga 4-day training shifts the perception of modern yoga and returns it to the
essence of the yoga teachings. By making yoga accessible, the practitioner and the teacher alike
develop a deeper understanding of the true practice of yoga. Jivana Heyman is an incredible
teacher who inspires others by his being. He is a living example of authenticity and service.

Hersha Chellaram

Jivana communicated his passion for yoga with humbleness and laughter, with an emphasis on
acknowledging/including each person and community. He has the ability to teach and learn as
he allows each person to give input throughout the training, equally ... and also he was able to keep the class moving.

Karen Putnam

Jivana has a wonderful teaching style that leaves a lot of room for discussion and sharing within the modules.
I learned so much from him and the discussions among the students. I highly recommend this training to any yoga teacher.

Sharon Genung

"I took the training three years ago and it was the starting point of my yoga career. I’ve been
teaching accessible yoga classes for two years now and Jivana’s training just gave me the
perfect foundation for that. In my classes I never feel insecure or unable to cope with my students
and that’s thanks to the training! You not only get the chance to learn to teach people with disabilities,
you’ll also deepen your own yoga practice – both physically and philosophically.
Jivana has a great way to include Patanjali’s Sutras in the training and his warm and inspiring
personality has made him a real guru for me. I could just listen to him for hours and hours.
So, I’ll definitely recommend to take the training."

Katja Sandschneider

"Jivana´s Accessible Yoga Training was a tremendous experience. It was filled with a plethora of
wisdom and yogic inspiration. Months later, I am still amazed by the way this information is
broadening my teaching style, increasing my confidence, and providing an even deeper
awareness that yoga is for every body. Accessibility is necessary and what Jivana is doing is
creating a path for all to practice and teach with integrity so we can all be free from suffering."

Sarit Rogers

"The content, itself, was amazing.... I was happy to learn of all the possible formats for modification --
wall, chair, floor/bed -- as well as to be able to experience the modifications themselves. I could see that with a little imagination
and courage (which I'm in the process of mustering), I can, with the guidance of my client(s)/student(s),
know how to proceed in making them (and myself) comfortable."

Michele Peterson

"Thank you for a most wonderful training, and for your encouragement and kindness.
The caliber of your trainings thus far have been the best I have ever experienced and I am looking
forward to learning everything you know :-)"

Luana Knowlton

"The Accessible Yoga Training was very informative, inspiring and uplifting."

Tania Isaac-Dutton

"I was truly blown away at how much I learned while I was there! I was greatly in need of hands-on,
practical applications (and variations) to make the yoga I teach more accessible than it already is, and I definitely got that! "

Natalie Dunbar

"I definitely learned a lot and had a wonderful experience with you and with the class. I think this class changes people's perspective; what is life and how should we think about life, especially when working with people in a wheelchair.
It really touched my heart. I felt that I had to look into myself and see who I am really and what I can offer to other people who need it.
I myself came to realize that I am so fortunate to be with those people. For one reason is that seeing them happy
and encouraged to live life fully, regardless of their situation."
