Sensit Yoga Immersions are for students who feel ready to advance their practice to a deeper level within.

The main element of this immersion is an embodied experience of our relationship to gravity.

By working with gravity in yoga asana, optimum alignment for each person can arise.
By receiving the feedback and rebound from the ground, our movement gains efficiency. We begin to achieve maximum results with minimal tension in the neuromuscular system. We become better able to estimate the balanced amount of effort and ease, providing our tissues with sufficient stimuli for vitality and progress, without causing strain, injury or exhaustion.

The immersion includes

3 hour practice daily that consists of

  • Moving from the inner body across the three planes of movement
  • Foundation, gravity and inner connections as tools for stability and ease (Stira Sukham Asanam)
  • Embodied anatomy: Feeling the alignment of bones and the key muscles that facilitate freedom in movement
  • The diaphragms and their role in alignment, asana and transitions
  • Periphery in service of the center: integrating leg bones into the pelvis and arm bones into the rib cage, allowing them to “serve” the spine
  • finding space in the key joints and releasing the weight and tension into the Earth through the connections between our bones (eg hip to heel, tail to crown etc)
  • Differentiating movement initiation points
  • Pranayama and seated meditation

    and

2 hours daily of Sensit Yoga methodology for teachers where they learn

  • Sequencing according to the planes of movement, compensatory and complementary poses
  • Functional movement and exercises that constitute a preparation for asana, as well as injury prevention (awakening the feet, strengthening the hamstrings, wrists and shoulders)
  • Interoception: Ways to invite students to sense, feel and embody their yoga practice
  • Teaching bandhas and pranayama in the Sensit Yoga method

About the teacher:
Maja Zilih

Maja Zilih (E-RYT 500), a founder of Maya YogaAthens Yoga Center, and Sensit Yoga method.

She holds classes, teacher training programs on basic and advanced levels, workshops, seminars, and yoga retreats in Austria and Greece.

Maja is a passionate explorer of yoga as a process of human healing and growth. Her life and teaching are dedicated to connecting with people with presence and care. Her Sensit Yoga method consists of applicable, mindful, and embodied approach to physical movement. She invites students to experience asana as a platform for self inquiry and exploration. Each individual is invited to work at their own pace and within their field of comfort, so that the learning takes place with increased sensitivity and heightened awareness. The movement becomes about releasing the old pattern of forcing and manipulating the body and creating new patterns of listening and being guided by its wisdom. The healing of body-mind happens through a cultivation of a respectful, kind and supportive inner relationship. This integrative approach helps us create new patterns through which we get to know our needs, limits, responses and reactions, as well as to increasingly make choices in favour of what serves our health and welbeing. All these are seen not as a target or achievement, but as a gradual process of coming home to ourselves through healthy and conscious living.

Maja's note: The outside world is merely a reflection of our inner state. Increasingly integrating (the seemingly scattered) parts of the self through yoga and other awareness practices, we begin to see the profound connections and interdependence everywhere we look. From the separation dream, we gradually wake up to the fact that our individual spiritual growth is both contributing to, and strongly dependent on the degree of the evolution of the collective. Whether through meditation, mindful asana practice, aware and respectful parenting, acts of self-nurture, being in service to the underprivileged, or through simple random acts of kindness, yoga truly comes alive when the context behind our actions is a desire to contribute to the elevation of consciousness of the humanity as a whole.

Yoga Studies:

Maja was drawn to psychology, meditation and spirituality since early childhood. As a teenager she started practicing yoga and periodically attending meditation seminars. With her first yoga teachers - Swami Nirvikalpa and Swami Bhajanananda of Satyananda Yoga tradition - practicing hatha and raja yoga, she realised that yoga is an awareness practice that enables us to deepen the understanding of the self. She studied and trained in yoga of various styles and traditions. Since 2015 she has been studying and integrating in her teaching the influences from the Body Mind Centering, Feldenkreis ATM, and other movement modalities.

She also holds a diploma in Primal Integration Psychotherapy training in Ontario, Canada.

Her university studies include:

  • Economy and social sciences at the Greek National University of Athens, and Open University of UK, respectively.
  • Master degree in political science at the Greek National University of Athens, on conflict transformation in the Balkans by non-violent means and grass-root peacebuilding

Maja is passionate about yoga as a tool for social action and she often organises events that aim at supporting refugees, the homeless, women in prisons and other sensitive groups.
