As a consequence of the above, unresolved experiences, trauma and stressful emotions can create chronic patterns of tension, pain and disabilities in the body. Lately the modern medicine has caught up with the ancient holistic practices and began to understand that, all human experiences create mind-body patterns. 

Addressing posture related tensions and painful patterns through healing movement can release stress and even psychological trauma. There is a growing body of research on the benefits of yoga in mental health. There is solid scientific evidence that, yoga helps with anxiety, depression, sleeping problems, eating and mood disorders, PTSD symptoms, migraines, low self esteem and other mental health related issues.

Yoga takes the body from being invaded by the stress hormones (sympathetic nervous system) to being pacified by the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system. Apart from building a stronger body, it also builds a stronger, more resilient mind and better skills to deal with the modern life´s challenges.

In this introductory workshop you will learn poses, healing sounds and breathing-techniques that help with stress, chronic fatigue, depression and anxiety symptoms, increase awareness of the present-moment and promote self-efficacy.

Deeana Lehtinen

Deeana is a therapist, well-being coach and yoga teacher that has a strong passion for both science and traditional healing methods. Deeana teaches well-being techniques, movement for health (yoga, QiGong, MindfulMovement, BrainGym, etc.), self-healing approaches and body-mind awareness. She has an extensive experience, with patients as well as with healthy populations and is currently involved in researching yoga´s efficiency in mental health rehabilitation.

MindfulMovement and BrainGym - methods developer.
